Welcome to our service this morning. Regardless of where you find yourself emotionally or spiritually, God always desires to touch your life with his saving power. So, allow your heart to be open as He speaks to us today.
Take some time to listen to the following two songs as they guide your spirit to focus on our Lord:

theme of “A full experience of Jesus” and the Scripture reading is John 9: 13- 23 NIV:
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.”
16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”
But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.
17 Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”
The man replied, “He is a prophet.”
18 They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. 19 “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?”
20 “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21 But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.”
22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. 23 That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”

Welcome to a time of worship. Jesus Christ is rightly called the King of kings, so we invite you to sing praises of His great love …. “Here is love vast as the ocean”
The Scripture we are focusing on this week is from John 9: 1-12 (NIV) Jesus heals a man born blind.
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.

Welcome to our time of worship! Today we are going to explore the concept of “Who do you belong to?”
We invite you into the presence of God as we lift our praises to Jesus!

Our Scripture reading for today is John 8:46 – 59 (NIV):
46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” 48 The Jews answered him, “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?” 49 “I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus, “but I honourmy Father and you dishonour me. 50 I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.” 52 At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?” 54 Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing,. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” 57 “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” 58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones,/u> to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.”

Welcome to worship. Let’s fill our homes and our minds with the sounds of praise.
Please join in singing “How Great is our God”
Jesus, the King of Kings, is our Saviour. We sing of His power in “Stronger”
Psalm 24
The earth and all that’s upon it belong to the Eternal. The world is His, with every living creature on it. Who can possibly ascend the mountain of the Eternal? Who can stand before Him in sacred spaces? Only those whose hands have been washed and hearts made pure, men and women who are not given to lies or deception. The Eternal will stand close to them with blessing and mercy at hand, and the God who redeems will right what has been wrong.
Part of our time together today includes participating in Communion. Let us prepare our hearts through praying “The Lord’s Prayer” from Matthew 6:9-13 written below from The Passion Translation …
‘Our Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms,
may the glory of your name
be the center on which our lives turn.
10 Manifest your kingdom realm,
and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth,
just as it is fulfilled in heaven.
11 We acknowledge you as our Provider
of all we need each day.
12 Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we ourselves
release forgiveness to those who have wronged us.
13 Rescue us every time we face tribulation
and set us free from evil.
For you are the King who rules
with power and glory forever. Amen.

… On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[c] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Reading from John 7:14-36
14 Not until the feast was half over did Jesus finally appear in the temple courts and begin to teach. 15 The Jewish leaders were astonished by what he taught and said, “How did this man acquire such knowledge? He wasn’t trained in our schools—who taught him?”
16 So Jesus responded, “I don’t teach my own ideas, but the truth revealed to me by the One who sent me. 17 If you want to test my teachings and discover where I received them, first be passionate to do God’s will, and then you will be able to discern if my teachings are from the heart of God or from my own opinions. 18 Charlatans praise themselves and seek honour from men, but my Father sent me to speak truth on his behalf. And I have no false motive, because I seek only the glory of God. 19 Moses has given you the law, but not one of you is faithful to keep it. So if you are all law-breakers, why then would you seek to kill me?”
20 Then some in the crowd shouted out, “You must be out of your mind! Who’s trying to kill you?”
21 Jesus replied, “I only had to do one miracle, and all of you marvel! 22 Yet isn’t it true that Moses and your forefathers ordered you to circumcise your sons even if the eighth day fell on a Sabbath? 23 So if you cut away part of a man on the Sabbath and that doesn’t break the Jewish law, why then would you be indignant with me for making a man completely healed on the Sabbath? 24 Stop judging based on the superficial. First you must embrace the standards of mercy and truth.”
25 Then some of the residents of Jerusalem spoke up and said, “Isn’t this the one they’re trying to kill? 26 So why is he here speaking publicly and not one of the Jewish leaders is doing anything about it? Are they starting to think that he’s the Anointed One? 27 But how could he be, since we know this man is from Galilee, but no one will know where the true Messiah comes from, he’ll just appear out of nowhere.”
28 Knowing all of this, Jesus one day preached boldly in the temple courts, “So, you think you know me and where I come from? But you don’t know the One who sent me—the Father who is always faithful. I have not come simply on my own initiative. 29 The Father has sent me here, and I know all about him, for I have come from his presence.”
30 His words caused many to want to arrest him, but no man was able to lay a hand on him, for it wasn’t yet his appointed time. 31 And there were many people who thought he might be the Messiah. They said, “After all, when the Anointed One appears, could he possibly do more signs and wonders than this man has done?”
32 So when the Pharisees heard these rumors circulating about Jesus, they went with the leading priests and the temple guards to arrest him.
33 Then Jesus said, “My days to be with you are numbered. Then I will return to the One who sent me. 34 And you will search for me and not be able to find me. For where I am, you cannot come.”
35 When the Jewish leaders heard this, they discussed among themselves, “Where could he possibly go that we won’t be able to find him? Is he going to minister in a different land where our people live scattered among the nations? Is he going to teach those who are not Jews? 36 What did he really mean by his statement, ‘You will search for me and won’t be able to find me. And where I am you can’t come’?”

Welcome Living Faith Uniting Church family and friends, and anyone else who is joining us in this service.
We will be sharing in communion at the end of this service, so we encourage you to have your bread, juice, water or wine ready as we join together for this holy sacrament.
We are delighted today to be able to hear Rev Trevor Hudson bring us a sermon on ‘Exploring a friendship with God’. To set our minds and hearts on God, as we prepare to hear what He is saying to us today, we encourage you to listen to:

Rev Dr. John Frederick who will perform, “Alleluia Sing to Jesus”. Thereafter Rev Trevor Hudson will preach from Romans 5:1-5 as we explore what a friendship with God looks like.
We will prepare our hearts for Communion as we listen to Sue sing “Bread and Wine”. It is a delight to hear her familiar voice lead us into a time of sacred reflection on Jesus’ body which was broken for us, and on His blood that was shed for us.
After communion, we will be treated to a song performed by Adrian Zanetti as a gift to Living Faith Uniting Church. Adrian will sing “Glory be to Jesus”.

This week we are focusing on God’s timing. How special it is to know you are walking in the will of God. Song writers have spoken of the joy of being in step with God. We can honour the King of kings who knows the best pathway for us to follow. Let us share in the song “The Potter’s Hand”
